How it all started...
We are organizing as a faith -based community in 1958 under the name of New Light Baptist Church, located at 53 Prince Street in Newark, New Jersey. Our founding Visionary, Preacher, Teacher, and Pastor was the late Rev. Jay C. Brown and his wife Cora Lee Brown along with his mother in-law Mother Strickland (later known as Mother Chapman). Around 1969, the church moved to its present location at 255 14th avenue Newark, New Jersey. The name of the church was later changed to New Light Missionary Baptist Church.
